Organic ume cultivation by letting nature take its course in eco-friendly agriculture, valuing biodiversity and cycles.
What we grow:
Organic processed ume and plum products
Yuasa Farm, which has been producing plums at Mt. Haruna for 100 years, is one of only a few organic ume farms in Japan. These organic pickled plums are grown without scientific fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. Yuasa’s farm policy has been all-natural, leaving Ume cultivation to the trees, with no animal compost or fertilizers used in the soil.
Biochar is carbonized from pruned branches of ume trees, and is also used in herbaceous cultivation. Biochar is derived from ume trees, and the microscopic holes in the biochar provide a home for microorganisms, while at the same time retaining carbon in the soil for a long period of time. In this way, the natural soil fertility of the ume tree is improved, and fertilizer itself is seen as unnecessary. Soil tests have so far shown no excess or deficiency of ingredients.
They are often sold in France, Germany, and other countries.
Additive-free pickled plums and processed products made from plums grown without chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides and pickled with natural salt are sold in France, Germany, and other countries. We do not sell the plums themselves, but rather the pickled plums and processed products. The plum itself, however, is sold only in Japan and Singapore and only when it is in season.
The carefully selected plums are ideal for dishes like onigiri rice balls and chazuke (rice with green tea). The Kakeru Umeboshi Series is also popular.
