Japan Agricultural Standards certified farmer Tonami Farms are committed to sustainable agriculture with minimal environmental impact.
What we grow:
Spinach, red-stemmed salad spinach, Japanese spinach, Ayame snow turnip, red mustard greens, red mizuna, carrots, medium-sized tomatoes, snap peas, green beans, broccoli, kale, salad garland chrysanthemum.
Tonami Farm grows 13 organic crops, including spinach, using organic, homemade compost. We are also working on oriental spinach, which is extremely difficult to cultivate. The farm is located on a mountainous area, with an altitude of around 400 to 500 meters above sea level, where the temperature can drop as low as -10C in winter. our philosophy is based on challenge and improvement, and we are always thinking about “creating a farm that is in demand”.
Winter spinach takes about 3 months to grow, so it has thicker leaves and a stronger flavor, so it is best to eat it with rock salt for a greater sweetness. Summer spinach is light, tasty and should be stir-fried in butter.
